An incredibly rare, fine and complicated example of a pocket watch movement - museum quality. Made by James Tregent - A maker of fine, unusual and complicated clocks and watches. His pieces reside in museums such as the British Museum, V&A and other famous collections. Numbered 1051, the cap signed James Tregent, Leicester Square, London. The dial and hands are unfortunately absent.

This would have probably answered some of the questions regarding a possible alarm. Balance is good, it swings freely. The hairspring is also fine. When the balance swings, the cylinder is not engaging with the escape wheel. Possibly worn away due to friction? There do not appear to be any jewels on the cylinder so if these were originally present they are no longer there.

Chain is missing on the fusee, but the mainspring seems to be ok as there is resistance when the barrel is turned. One of the finest things I have ever personally come across in the watchmaking world, ideal for the collector of rare and fine pieces and hopefully with some restoration could be functioning again. Measures 32mm wide on the dust cap. To receive updates about new listings, special offers and upcoming stock. We get new stock all the time and list several times a week!
