Hamilton 12s Pocket Watch, 19 jewels, ADJUSTED 5 POSITIONS, 900 movement

  
This movement is beautifully crafted 900, 19 jewels, adjusted 5 positions. The Case is marked "HAMILTON QUALITY PERMANENT" inside the inner dust cover.

The outside of the inner dust cover is marked Hamilton Watch Co. And there is a engraving dated December 25th 1918. I assume that this watch was presented on Christmas Day in 1918 and this watch celebrated 100th year on Christmas Day this year. The bezel, case back and inner dust cover are all hinged.

The hinge of inner dust cover works, but I feel it needs more friction. The inner dust cover is not wobbly but if you replace the hinge pin, it will give some more friction and feels nicer. When the bezel, inner dust cover and case back are closed, there aren't any gaps between them and the middle case. The case back has engraving, too. I see a lot of worn gold filled spots on the bezel edge, case back edge and middle case. There is a tiny, shallow dent which is not very noticeable. I don't think that this case has ever been abused, but it has been used a lot.

The crystal is glass and there are light surface scratches, but it is very clear and you will not need a replacement for this crystal. There is a tiny edge chip between 11:00 and 12:00. The hands are dark blue color and the tip of minute hand is missing some color.

The dial has a couple of very faint hairlines. One starts from where hands are attached and reaches to the letters "HAMILTON". The other is right next to number "2". Other than that, the dial is nice. I don't see any noticeable rust spots or surface scratches on this movement.

The movement says HAMILTON, LANCASTER, PA. 1881110 ADJUSTED 5 POSITIONS 19 JEWELS SAFETY PINION 900. The barrel is jeweled and all jewel settings are beautiful rose gold color. I can set time, wind and this watch continues to run without stopping with good & true balance motion, but I don't know any service histories of this watch. I strongly recommend this watch to be serviced by a professional watchmaker who has good experiences with old pocket watches before you wear daily or very often.

Unfortunately I can't offer you any future warranties on this watch as this is almost 100 years old and any fine mechanical things like this old always have possibilities to go wrong anytime even with proper care.
