This is a prototype Illinois "Marquis" type pocket watch movement. This is the 12 size thin model that is usually marked Marquis or Marquis Autocrat. It was made in the 1920s and it is marked "3rd Mod" on the mainplate [3rd model]. Reasons I consider it a prototype: 1. Gilt finish, I have never seen one of these with a gilt finish. No serial numbers on any part. I don't think they made an A. Lincoln in 17 jewel, I think they were 19 jewel. The holes for the jewel settings have no threads.

The center holes have pressed in brass bushings, just to let the center wheel be inserted I think so it could have hands? This movement was underwater at some point. Although the gilt plates did not rust, all of the steel parts were rusted.

I replaced the plate screws, the center wheel, the crown and ratchet wheels. I think the original parts were gold plated, but they were rusted beyond repair. It still has some rusted parts. You will never get this movement running unless you want to tap all of the unfinished holes.
