10348 for a new form of. Practical keyless work for both fusee and going-barrel watches. This was to provide the mainstay of future production for the firm of Nicole Nielsen and pointed the way for watch development worldwide. 10348 taken out in 1844 terms this a rocker winding system. There are three spur wheels mounted on a rocker; a large one in the middle and a smaller one either side.In its resting position the left one contacts with the locking wheel of the barrel so the watch is wound. When the pin set is depressed, the left wheel is lifted away and the right one brought into contact with the hand setting wheel; now the hands can be adjusted by the stem.
Looking at the images of the movement you can see this is a fire gilt ¾ plate configuration. The three bright steel rocker wheels are clearly visible with the large one at the top and the smaller ones beneath. This is an English lever escapement with going barrel, bright steel side lever, tangential pallets and brass ratchet tooth scape. The balance is compensated with solid gold timing screws and index regulator to the back of the cock. The piece is winding with a lovely firm action and running strong and keeping good time. You can also visit our shop at vintagewatchstore.
