Rare Independent Dead Seconds, Dual Train, English Pocket Watch Movement (P106). Please see photographs for condition and size - the pictures form an important part of the description. Movement is 43mm on the reverse and 46.75mm on the dial size approx.

It is a forerunner of the chronograph and highly jewelled. There are at least 21 jewels visible but may be more. Both mainsprings wind up ok, it ticks away happily and the dead seconds function is working correctly. I have not seen and cannot find another movement quite like this.

The center dead seconds ticks once a second (rather than the usual 5 times or so per second) and is powered by its own mainspring and train of wheels. Under the dial things are more clear - a very small wheel rotates and flicks a pin which causes the watch to tick once per second. A small lever is present at the 5 O clock position and when moved across, makes the pin unable to complete its motion causing the seconds to stop.

Issues with the movement: It will require a service as I an unaware of its history, from what I know it is likely to have been locked away for decades. The center seconds hand drops out of the center when the movement is turned upside down, the pin is fine, but the hole on the hand is perhaps very slightly too big causing it to drop off. I have not tested the movement for any form of time keeping. The movement is signed John Campbell, Liverpool, No 24871. There are no makers initials or markings present under the dial.
