Very rare D. Gruen & Sons Glashutte precision-movement pocket watch running

  

Gruen & Sons precision pocket watch movement from the manufactory "Gruensche Uhrenfabrikation Gruen and Assmann" Glashüt te. Gruen and Assmann founded this joint manufactory in Glashütte.

Here precision pocket movements were to be manufactured according to Glashütte quality standards called "Fortschritt" for the USA. Production began in November 1894 with the serial no.

62000 and ended about 1897 with the serial number 68000. The manufactory was destroyed by a flood catastrophe. The US authorities demanded the indication of the place of manufacture on the movement. Because the place Glashütte in the US were unknown, they chose Dresde. 6,000 movements were produced.

The author could only register 63 existing movements. The movement has the serial no.

The movement diameter is 40mm. The watch case is an interim solution, not an original one.
